Seems fitting that the new UNT football stadium will get wind turbines to provide power -- the football program’s been flapping in the breeze for years, now.

The regents voted yesterday to fund a project that will result in three wind turbines to generate power at the new stadium.

According to a Denton Record Chronicle report, the three turbines will stand 125 feet tall and spin on the power of life being sucked out of the crowd during another Mean Green loss. OK, the DR-C didn’t report that last bit.

The State Energy Conservation Office offered a $2 million grant to help fund the project. The Dallas office of the FBI will conduct a search for a competent new coach. Again, that last part’s probably not true.

So, hey, at least when something blows at the stadium some good will come out of it.
