‘Guac the Vote:' Houston Taco Trucks Seek to Register Voters

Eight Houston taco trucks have begun registering voters ahead of the Nov. 8 presidential election -- offering a side of civic engagement with the spicy fare they serve up daily.

The campaign is poking fun at a founder of a group called "Latinos for Trump" who suggested recently that unless the U.S. fortifies its borders, "You're going to have taco trucks on every corner."

The trucks began signing customers up to vote Tuesday and will continue to do so until Texas' registration ends Oct. 11.

The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has also begun "Guac the Vote," a campaign similarly enlisting taco truck operators around the country to offer voter registration.

And there are plans to have trucks in many states sell tacos at polling places on Election Day.
