Kathleen Mason, CEO of Dallas-based Tuesday Morning, has been named Texas Businesswoman of the Year by the Women's Chamber of Commerce of Texas.

"I used to think I led a pretty simple life 'til I came to Tuesday Morning and started being unable to resist the great bargains we have here," said Mason, who, like her customers, loves a good deal.

Mason has called the shots at the discount retailer for the past 10 years.  She's often inside the stores, checking out merchandise, talking with staff and even helping customers.

"People appreciate us for the fact we do carry brands and designers at prices that are as much as 50 to 80 percent below what you'll find in other stores," said Mason. "We have very savvy customers who understand brands and most of all who understand quality."

Over the last decade, Mason believes she has made her mark.

"I would say just the level of quality and the brands and really the respect of the customers -- that and the respect shows in the sales," Mason said.
