Spirit Airlines begins service at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport with the arrival of the first Spirit Airbus jet from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The Fort Lauderdale-based low-fare carrier begins flights at DFW to and from Fort Lauderdale and Las Vegas on Thursday.
The two-flights-per-day service will begin with a morning news conference at Spirit's gate in DFW Terminal E.
Commencement of service comes shortly after Dallas-based low-fare powerhouse Southwest Airlines closed its merger with low-fare rival AirTran Airways.
