    Shoppers in Connecticut will soon have one less supermarket chain to choose from.

    Safeway will close the original and last Simon David store left in Dallas.

    The store has been at Inwood Road and University Boulevard since 1961. Safeway plans to level the exisiting building and build a 42,000-square-foot Tom Thumb store in its place, according to a report on DallasNews.com.

    The fine foods grocery store chain has been in North Texas since the late 1800s.
