American Airlines has landed its first plane in Montana.
The Bozeman Chronicle reports that the airline will immediately begin offering daily flights between Bozeman and its hub in Dallas/Fort Worth. It plans to offer the route from June until October and December through April.
Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport Director Brian Sprenger called the plane's Thursday arrival a "groundbreaking day for the airport."
Sprenger says the airport has courted American for more than 25 years but couldn't get the airline to commit until the airport received a $750,000 subsidy in January.
American is the airport's seventh commercial airline. It will serve 16 destinations.
The airport saw more than 1 million passengers for the first time last year, up more than 5 percent from 2014.
