Dallas Tax Preparer Accused Of Doctoring Filings

The feds have accused a Dallas tax preparer of falsifying deductions to keep customers from having to pay the proper amount of taxes.

The Justice Department today announced the complaint aims to bar Tina Preston, her company Preston Tax Services and others affiliated with her business from working in tax preparation.

Tax losses from the scheme cost the government as much as $60 million.

Preston didn't immediately return a message for comment.

Preston, at the end of each tax-filing season, allegedly held parties for employees and customers featuring strippers and prizes such as a car, a trip to Jamaica and $1,000 in cash.

The complaint accuses Preston of teaching her employees to fabricate businesses and improperly claim earned income tax credits.
