Blue Bell may be back on store shelves as soon as next month.
H-E-B corporate offices have informed employees that they anticipate having Blue Bell ice cream for sale by mid-September, according to H-E-B spokesperson Cyndy Garza-Roberts.
H-E-B released a statement to Houston NBC affiliate KPRC-TV Wednesday evening:
H-E-B has been in communication with Blue Bell on their distribution status. We anticipate having Blue Bell on the shelf some time mid-September. The decision on the assortment and which locations receive products first is completely determined by Blue Bell. However, we believe Houston will receive product first based on proximity to distribution.
NBC 5 reached out to Blue Bell for comment. In a statement, they said:
At this time we have not finalized our distribution plans or confirmed a date when our products will be available in the stores.
The Brenham-based creamery voluntarily pulled all products out of stores on April 20 due to a listeria outbreak.
Blue Bell told NBC 5 Tuesday afternoon that their trucks were headed to distribution centers to begin building inventory and that they hoped to release more information about distribution plans soon.
