American Airlines to Build New Facility in Fort Worth

American Airlines will break ground on a new operations center in Fort Worth.

The new Integrated Operations Control center will be located just west of Highway 360, near the C.R. Smith Museum, not far from American Airlines headquarters.

The state-of-the art facility will consolidate the operations of American and its merger partner, US Airways.

The US Airways operations center in Pittsburgh will close.

NBC 5 obtained a letter to employees about the new facility. It reads, in part:

Our timeline for the new building is aggressive. We are looking to break ground within the next 30 days pending local approvals, with the anticipation to have the facility "move-in" ready by third quarter 2015. This is also the target date for moving all existing OCC employees and resources to the new building. Consolidating our two operations centers, locating the team near our primary flight training center and our corporate headquarters, was the right decision for our business and our customers.
