AMR, SWA Among Safest Airlines in the World

    North Texas is home to two of the Top 10 safest airlines in the world.

    Near the top of the list at No. 2 is Fort Worth-based AMR, which includes both American Airlines and American Eagle.  The only safer airline in the world was Air France-KLM.

    Dallas-based Southwest Airlines also made the list at No. 8.

    Houston-based Continental Airlines came in at No. 4 while Delta was No. 5, United No. 9 and US Airways No. 10. British Airways was No. 3, Japan Airlines was No. 6 and Lufthansa No. 7.

    The list was compiled by the Air Transport Rating Agency who not only compared incident statistics, but the average age of aircraft as well as 13 other criteria.
