AA says they need another 500 flight attendants to take a leave of absence by April 1.

Less than a week after announcing they were going to cut 13,000 jobs, American Airlines says they have too many flight attendants.

The Fort Worth-based airline is asking for 500 volunteers to take a leave of absence beginning April 1.

The request has nothing to do with the company's announcement that they plan to cut 2,300 flight attendants from their payroll as part of their restructuring plan.

So far there has been no comment from the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, the union representing the flight attendants at American.
