1,000 New Jobs Expected in North Texas

WalMart expected to hire 600 people while Kohl's expects to hire 400

One thousand new jobs are expected to be created in North Texas over the next three years.

WalMart is adding about 600 jobs with the addition of two new stores while Kohl's is opening a distribution center in DeSoto, resulting in about 400 jobs at the end of three years.

The new WalMart is located on North Central Expressway in Dallas and opens Wednesday. The Crowley location is expected to open in March.

Officials expect each store will hire about 300 people. They encourage individuals interested to apply at the application center at 100 South Texas Street in Crowley.

Officials with Kohl's anticipate 400 new jobs will be created once the 951,000 square-foot building is operating at full capacity. Located at I-35 and Centre Park Blvd, the site was selected for its proximity to the company's Central and Midwest customer base.

"This new facility will ensure that Kohl's is able to accommodate the tremendous growth of our Kohls.com business," said Ken Bonning, Executive Vice President of Store Planning and Logistics. "We currently operate 84 stores in Texas, and are pleased to expand our presence with this new facility."

This will be the fourth distribution center dedicated towards fulfilling orders made on Kohls.com.

External hiring for hourly and management positions will begin March 1. Interested applicants are encouraged to visit kohlscareers.com for more information and a list of available positions.
