One person was killed in a residential fire on the 1200 block of E. Baltimore Avenue Friday afternoon, the Fort Worth Fire Department says.
The department made the announcement on Twitter shortly after 5 p.m.
NBC 5 has learned that the resident of the home was a 64-year-old man.
When firefighters arrived, smoke was already pouring out of the house.
"My next door neighbors came out and there was a lot of smoke. We broke the glass right there to try to save him but it was just too thick," said Samuel Norato.
Some neighbors said they heard a boom but the cause of the fire isn't yet known.
