A Fort Worth block was evacuated Tuesday morning after a gas line was ruptured.

The 900 block of Norwood St., near 7th and University Drive in Fort Worth, was evacuated as a precaution.

About 12 businesses and around 40-50 people were effected.

Timothy Hardeman with the FWFD says a construction worker ruptured the line before 11 a.m. Tuesday morning.

ATMOS Energy headed to the scene to help control the leak.

Fire officials monitored buildings in the area while repairs were completed and let people back into the area around 11:30 a.m.
