Fire Destroys Apartments in Valley Ranch

Irving firefighters battled a 2-alarm fire at The Resort at Valley Ranch apartments on the 10000 block of North MacArthur Boulevard Friday afternoon.

Firefighters arriving at the scene shortly after 2 p.m. and reported fire shooting through the roof of the three-story building.

From Chopper 5, extensive damage to second and third floors of the building could be seen; one building, equaling 20 apartments, have been destroyed by fire.

The fire did not spread to any other buildings as firefighters were able to quickly get the fire under control.

Sharon Love. who lives at the complex, was home when the fire started.

"I walked back to the apartment to see and flames coming out the building, so, I could see the third floor collapsing. I stay on the second floor, so I could see it hitting my door," said Love.

No injuries were reported.

Officials with the apartment complex said it will help relocate victims to new apartments, either within the complex, or at nearby properties.

The Red Cross is also assisting the victims.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
