$5,000 Reward Issued for Garland Murder Suspect

Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward after learning a man found dead in a crashed car was murdered.

Garland police said Thursday afternoon officers were called to a major crash early May 21 where a Saturn sedan left the road and crashed into a tree.

Inside the car officers found 21-year-old Amrit Tejan deceased. Upon further inspection, however, officers learned Tejan had been shot and died from his gunshot wound, not the crash.

An investigation led homicide detectives to name 22-year-old Billy Dupree Owens as a suspect in connection with Tejan's slaying.

Police consider Owens to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his location is asked to contact Garland Crime Stoppers at 972-272-8477 (TIPS) or online at garlandcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
