Like father, like daughter?

Think we've seen the last Cheney in national politics? Think again.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter, Elizabeth, told the Washington Times that she might throw her hat into the political ring and run for office.

"It's something I very well may do," said Liz Cheney, the elder of the former VP's two daughters.

Some Republicans are looking at Liz Cheney, the Princess Leia to her father's Darth Vader, as a strong candidate for national political prominence, especially after her tough stance on her father's views on enhanced interrogation methods.

"The tactics are not torture," she told MSNBC's Norah O'Donnell. "The memos laid out the extent of exactly how far we could go before it would become torture, because it was important we not cross that line into torture."

While running for office may be in her future, the 44-year-old said her focus right now is on raising her five children and helping her father write his memoirs. That means the next chapter of her own political career may be delayed.

"I've spent a lot of time promoting democracy around the world," Cheney told the Times. "It has made me really grateful for our system and has given me a real understanding of how important it is to participate."
