A worker escaped serious injury after he jumped from his construction equipment as a concrete wall fell at a Roanoke construction site on Tuesday morning.

Roanoke fire chief Mike Duncan said crews were lifting a wall at a warehouse construction site in the 200 block of Freedom Drive when the 20-foot wall fell.

A worker in a lift jumped clear as the wall and large crane came down on the lift. The worker suffered minor injuries.

"He's the luckiest man in the world," chief Duncan said.

No other injuries were reported. A team from the Occupational Health and Safety Administration will investigate the incident.
