Trash Bags to be Handed Out Before Fort Worth Holiday Lights Parade

A holiday parade in North Texas will be going green.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Friday night's Chesapeake Energy Parade of Lights will include about 5,000 litter bags handed out to visitors.

Chad Lorance  with the Tarrant County Regional Water District calls it reverse litter. He said the community program encourages parade goers to dispose of their own trash instead of leaving it for someone else.

The litter bags will be collected following the parade.

The effort is part of an anti-litter campaign that includes Arlington, Dallas, Denton, Fort Worth, Mansfield and the water district. Residents are urged to pick up 10 pieces of trash each Tuesday.
