The extension to Dallas' McKinney Avenue Trolley will open with a party on June 6.

The M-Line Trolley Social will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to showcase the $9.9 million .65-mile track extension of the McKinney Avenue Transit Authority's trolley line that creates a reverse loop along Olive Street and St. Paul Street.

The extension also provides riders with better access to DART's St. Paul Station.

As always, the trolley is free to ride, but those who attend Saturday's social will also receive a free commemorative token (while supplies last) that will make deals and discounts avaiable at certain businesses along the trolley route.

The trolley typically runs 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to midnight on Friday. It runs 10 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday and holidays.

A VIP dedication event will be held on June 5 with members of the McKinney Avenue Transit Authority, DART, Downtown Dallas Inc., Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau, Uptown Dallas Inc., Dallas Arts District and Klyde Warren Park.
