Longhorns are Latest to Get University Scent

About a year after unveiling eau du College Station, a fragrance company is ready to launch a scent that's inspired by their rivals.

Masik Collegiate Fragrances is launching a University of Texas at Austin cologne and perfume this week to join the 20 colleges that are designed to smell like school spirit.

“People, myself included, are uniquely passionate about their Alma Maters, and about the college/university in their community, which is why I believe your school’s signature scent is the perfect gift for the student, alumni or fan in your life,” explains CEO Katie Masik.

For UT, the scent was inspired by Austin's burnt orange color with notes of mandarin pulp, orange blossom, tabac absolute, and vanilla. The ladies' perfume incorporates "springtime aromatics" inspired by Texas Bluebonnets. The mens' cologne will have hints of soft leather, because...uh...boots, the company says.

The scents can be purchased at Belk locations, the UT co-op, and other retailers for $39.50 per bottle.

Last year, the same company put out a Texas A&M fragrance that used rose, vanilla, and apple to evoke Aggie school colors.

The complete list of schools with their own smells include Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, South Carolina, Clemson, Texas A&M, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, NC State, Arkansas, Syracuse, and, now, Texas.
