Giant Slip-and-Slide Coming to Fort Worth This Month

The Slip-and-Slide event returns to Fort Worth on July 23 despite problems in 2015

When it's a hot summer day in North Texas, one way to beat the heat is with a 1,000 foot slip-and-slide spanning across Fort Worth.

"Slide the City" is bring back it's blocks-long slip-and-slip for the third time in North Texas on July 23. The first slide event was last year at Pantherfest in Fort Worth, and the second was last month in Downtown Dallas

This year's Fort Worth slide will be in a new location along the Clearfork bridge.

Tickets can purchased online to "Slide the City" for one, a few or unlimited rides on the slides.

Individual tickets range between $15 and $99 tickets for various rides throughout. For one or three rides on the slide, you can choose between the morning session from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and evening session from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

People who purchase the $99 all day slider pass are able to "slide as many times as possible throughout the day."

All sliders will receive a drawstring bag and mouth guard with their ticket, but only the triple and all day sliders will receive their own tube.

In 2015, "Slide the City" suffered from maintenance issues with their slide, causing the morning session of the event to get canceled. A handful of riders were also treated for heat exhaustion while waiting for the slide to be fixed.

Participants must be over 46 inches tall and at least 5 years old. Appropriate swimwear and shoes are required.
