Garth Brooks Offers Hawaii Honeymoon to Hurst Couple

A Hurst man's surprise proposal to his longtime girlfriend at a Garth Brooks concert turned into an even bigger surprise for both of them.

"We were raised on country," said Chelsea Townsend, explaining the couple's shared appreciation of the music genre.

So her boyfriend, Drew Bargsley, secretly bought tickets to see Garth Brooks perform in Oklahoma City over the weekend for her birthday.

"The whole time I'm thinking, 'She's going to find out something. She's going to see a receipt, something!' Not a clue!" Bargsley said.

Once at the concert, he had an even bigger surprise, and he waited for Brooks to sing, "Unanswered Prayers."

"I was like, 'This is it,'" Bargsley said. "So I get the ring out of my pocket … and I get down in the little space between the seats and kneel down."

People in the crowd around them started to notice.

"When I turned around and I saw him on one knee I was like, 'Oh my goodness!'" Townsend said. "He's doing this here?"

Then fans all over the Chesapeake Energy Arena suddenly started applauding.

"And everybody starts to go nuts," Bargsley said.

Everybody, including Garth Brooks, who stopped singing and turned to address the electrician and nurse from North Texas.

"OK, we're going to start with names. What is you all's names?" Brooks asked.

Bargsley answered, "Drew and Chelsea."

"Chelsea. Where do you want to go on your honeymoon?" Brooks asked.

She answered she didn't know.

"No idea?" Brooks said. "Well, I tell you what, if you pick Hawaii, Trisha Yearwood and I will pay for it, OK?"

The couple couldn't believe it.

"Honestly we were kind of looking like, 'Was that just said out loud? Did that just happen?' I think we kind of looked at each other and we were, 'Whoooo!'" Townsend said.

The couple has lived together for about two years.

They still don't have a wedding date set.

But they're definitely planning on their honeymoon in Hawaii, where neither has ever visited.

"I'll sip a coconut," Bargsley said. "I just hope they allow cowboy hats in Hawaii."
