Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Musicians Plan Holiday Concerts

After reaching an agreement that ended a three-month strike, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra musicians have planned two holiday concerts.

The first concert, "A Baroque Christmas," takes place at Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth on Tuesday. The second, "Baroque Holiday Concert," will be held at White's Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake on Dec. 22.

All proceeds from Tuesday's concert will benefit the B Sharp Youth Music Program and Broadway Baptist Church-Fort Worth's Agape Meal Ministry, according to The Symphony Musicians of Fort Worth, who are hosting the two holiday concerts.

The concerts come after an anonymous donor stepped forward with a $700,000 gift, which bridged the gap between the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Association and the American Federation of Musicians Local 72-147.

The FWSO announced the strike had ended last Wednesday. Their new contract runs through July 31, 2020.

The FWSO will have their first official performance following the strike on New Year's Eve in a concert conducted by Miguel Harth-Bedoya at Bass Performance Hall. The remainder of the FWSO season remains as previously scheduled.
