The Dallas Zoo is welcoming its newest member, a 6-foot-tall baby giraffe. According to the zoo, the very big, baby boy, was born on Sunday, October 26, to first-time mother Chrystal.

The Dallas Zoo's newest giraffe finally has a name: "Kopano."

Kopano's name means "united" in the Tswana language of the African nation of Botswana. It was chosen by an online poll on dallaszoo.com.

The zoo announced the winning name Monday.

Kopano's birth was announced last week. It's already hit 6 feet tall and weighs 120 pounds.

Zookeepers say visitors will be able to see Kopano outdoors starting Monday.

The zoo had first auctioned off naming rights. An anonymous bidder who won with a $50,000 donation then allowed the zoo to put the giraffe's name up for a public vote.
