The Dallas Zoo announced it has a new addition to the Lacerte Family Children's Zoo, a baby pony.

Epona, named for the Celtic goddess of horses, was born May 19. She's a mixed-breed pony mare.

The filly will stay behind the scenes with mom, Gracie, so that they can bond.

Zoo officials say Epona is already running, leaping and exploring the Don & Linda Carter Barn.

The zoo says, weather permitting, guests may see Epona and Gracie in the paddock next door to the Simmons Family Pony Trek.

Admission to the Dallas Zoo is half price through Thursday while the Giants of the Savanna exhibit is closed for storm clean-up.
