50,000 members of Mary Kay's sales force are in Dallas this week for the company's annual convention and its 50th anniversary celebration.
Look for downtown Dallas to be covered in pink this week as 50,000 members of Mary Kay's sales force will be in town for the company's annual convention.
Now through August 7, members will attend events at the Convention Center which was recently renamed the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.
"For Mary Kay it's 50,000 women coming to Dallas to celebrate 350,000 brand consultants, 3 million consultants around the world and just enriching women's lives," said Mary Kay vice-president of Marketing Sara Friedman.
This is the company's 50th anniversary. Mary Kay Ash started the cosmetics company with a small Dallas storefront in 1963. She died in November 2001 at the age of 83.
"I've always grown up with knowing that women have great potential and with the Mary Kay business, they can show it--they can exhibit that--with their business," said Mary Kay consultant Lizuly Monarrez.
Mary Kay consultants say for them, working for the company is about more than just cosmetics.
"It's given me confidence in my other areas of work, just getting out meeting people," said Mary Kay consultant Zsabonne Heathecock."It's really awesome what you get from the company."
In honor of Mary Kay's golden anniversary, the Dallas skyline will turn pink.
On Monday night landmarks throughout Dallas, including 1717 McKinney Avenue, the Dallas Museum of Art, Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, Omni Hotel, One Arts Plaza and Reunion Tower, will twinkle with pink lights.
The 50th anniversary celebration is entitled "One Woman Can."
