“American Idol” Down To Final Five

After thousands of auditions, hundreds of on-stage performances and dozens of finalists — "American Idol" is down to only a handful.

Siobhan Magnus was voted off the show on Wednesday, dropping the final six down to five.

The sprightly star took to the stage one last time to sing Aretha Franklin's "Think," unleashing her trademark powerful wail to close out the song — but it was too little, too late.

Michael Lynche, Casey James and Siobhan landed in the bottom three before the first two were pronounced safe.

The exit came after a star-studded evening.

Rascal Flatts opened the show and returned toward its end to back Shakira on a special performance of her new song, "Gypsy," while Lady Antebellum and Sons of Sylvia also performed – with the latter introduced by former "Idol" winner Carrie Underwood.

Cameron Diaz and Antonio Banderas made a non-musical appearance to talk up their latest film, "Shrek Forever After," with Ryan Seacrest.

Ryan, the "Idol" host, has a cameo in the new film – and the "Idol" contestants got to try their voice-acting talents as well, with the final six playing out a scene in the studio from the 3-D film in behind-the-scenes footage.

In another cinematic treat, "Idol" also aired footage of five of the final six undergoing a transformation (thanks to hair and makeup) into "Twilight"-style vampires for the Ford Fiesta commercial that ran during the episode.

The clip found the five attacking Michael Lynche, who remained "human."

That commercial wasn't the only notable one included with the "Idol" hour.

A much-discussed clip for Lane Bryant's plus-size lingerie line ran during a break just before the show's conclusion, the end to a controversy that emerged after the clothing company claimed that ABC and Fox had declined to run the ad.

At the time, ABC told Access the only restrictions they made were that the ad is limited to the last pod, or the last 10 minutes of the show – the time slot in which it ultimately ran on FOX's "Idol."
