“The Office” Teases New Season with “Lip Dub”

NBC released the cold opening for Thursday's season seven premiere of "The Office," a lipdub to a 1968 classic rock hit.

Andy Bernard kicks off the 2:28 clip, set to 1960s garage band The Human Beinz's "Nobody But Me." The video showcases Pam's dancing, Michael Scott's magic skills, and a bit of office destruction by Dwight Schrute.

The video references the popular internet tradition of "Lip Dubbing," where a performer or group lip synchs along to a song, as explained by internet blog Know Your Meme.

Some of the more recognizable internet "lip dubs" come from college and high school campuses, like the University of Quebec at Montreal's lip dub to the Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling," and from individuals with webcam, like the 2004 hit the "Numa Numa" dance.

This isn't the first time the writers at "The Office" played off a viral video hit. The cast spoofed the popular "JK Wedding" video when Jim and Pam finally tied the knot in season six, with the entire cast dancing down the aisles to Chris Brown's hit "Forever."

It looks like USA Today's Pop Candy blog was the first to spot the sneak preview of the NBC hit, withNew York Magazine's Vulture blog and TheDailyWh.at close behind.

Season seven premieres Thursday night and will be Steve Carell's last. Carell told E!Online back in June, "I just think it's time."

He added, "When I first signed on I had a contract for seven seasons, and this coming year is my seventh. I just thought it was time for my character to go."
