Piloting ‘Dallas' Rebirth

TNT airs preview tonight

Like Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees before him, and Michael Myers, who started it all, “Dallas” will not die.

Oh, the TV series went under for a decade or two but there’s no killing that goose if it still has even the hint of squirting out a 24K egg. Or a 14K egg for that matter.

If the pilot — a sneak peek of which is to air tonight — pulls in only a 10K viewership rating the series likely goes back to cryogenics.

Word came out awhile back that the retooled cast of tool characters would return to the airwaves, and Monday it was revealed it will be shot in, of all places, Dallas -- so yay for us.

Network headcheeses ordered a pilot episode and recently announced the series re-debut, if that’s possible, for summer 2012.

Those of you interested in the new version of the old show can catch a glimpse tonight during “The Closer” and “Rizzoli & Isles,” 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., respectively.

The cast members look to be about half refugees from “Desperate Housewives,” the new generation of Ewings, and series originals — Larry Hagman, Linda Gray, and Patrick Duffy, sans Victoria Principal, and, given her plastic surgery results, that’s a dream come true.
