Victoria Beckham to Guest Judge on “Idol”

Ex-Spice Girl will make a "one-off appearance" on the show: rep

Move over, Paula. There's a new judge in town.

Just two days after Paula Abdul shocked "American Idol" fans with news of her departure, Victoria Beckham announced she plans to step in as a guest judge on the hit reality TV show.

Though it was unclear the extent of Beckham's role on the show, the former Spice Girl has inked a deal for a "one-off appearance" on the popular show, her publicist told Britain's Sky News.

Beckham, 35, will sit alongside judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi -- but her rep said the wife of soccer hunk David Beckham doesn't want to commit to more than a guest role so she can focus on her fashion line.

The news comes as rumors swirled about who will serve as Abdul's replacement. Though a number of names have been batted around -- including Jennifer Lopez, who later denied the report -- no one has been officially named.

Abdul, who was on the show for eight seasons, is believed to have earned $2 million last season and was reportedly seeking $20 million to stay on the show.

"With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return," Abdul said on her Twitter page Tuesday.
