“Jersey Shore” No More

MTV to end airing controversial reality show after upcoming 6th season

Put away the hair gel, turn in the gym membership, put down the spray tan bottle and pack up the Ed Hardy shirts — after six fist-pumping seasons, the Jersey Shore is coming to an end.

MTV announced Thursday that the upcoming sixth season of the iconic and controversial reality series about young Italian-Americans partying their way through a summer will be its last.

Snooki, The Situation, J-Woww, Pauly D, Sammi Sweetheart, Ronnie, Vinnie and Deena (is it embarrassing to be able to list all eight names from memory?) will be leaving their Seaside Heights boardwalk home for good, MTV says.

The final season is set to premiere Oct. 4. Before that, on Sept. 6, MTV will air a retrospect — that’s not a typo — called "Gym, Tan, Look Back," which will look back at all the arguments, fights, nights out and dance battles in Seaside, Miami and Florence.

Per MTV’s announcement: It's the end of an era... not to mention one epic party, so we're pulling out all the stops. Anything to avoid being stuck with the cleanup bill.

And in case you were wondering how they handled Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi being pregnant during the final season, MTV says she lived across the street from the iconic Seaside house.
