Dog Whisperer Slips His Leash

Although famed for his success in rehabilitating troubled pooches and runaway dogs, marriage proved to be a different animal for Cesar Millan.  The famed canine trainer to the stars announced his decision to break off his 16 year marriage with his wife, Ilusion Milan.

"We are sad to announce that after 16 years of marriage we have decided to file for divorce," the now ex-couple wrote on their website Cesarsway.com.  "The decision was made after much consideration and time. We remain caring friends, and are fully committed to the co-parenting of our two boys."

The two did not immediately disclose any more details of where their marriage went astray.

Ilusion Millan cited "irreconcilable differences" in divorce filings made in Los Angeles court, People reported.  She is seeking primary custody of the children.

As late as last fall, the Millan's showed little sign that their relationship might be in the dog house.  Ilusion joked about her husband's preoccupation with facial products in a 2009 interview with People.  "Cesar puts on facial masks more than I do.  And you can't talk to him while he's in mask meditation!"

Cesar said during the couple's 2009 vacation to Fiji, he would leave his wife in the hotel to observe dogs on the street, reported People

The Dog Whisperer rose to fame in Los Angeles training dogs for celebrities like Jada Pinkett Smith and Oprah.  He is now the author of four books, hosts his television show on National Geographic Channel, and runs an animal rescue charity.
