Eddie Van Halen is on the mend!

Per his band's official website, the famed 57-year-old rocker recently "underwent an emergency surgery for a severe bout of diverticulitis." (In diverticulitis, pouches that have formed in the wall of the intestine become inflamed or infected and cause a great deal of pain.)

In the meantime, Van Halen's planned November 2012 tour of Japan is in the process of being rescheduled. Per their website, the band "looks forward to seeing and playing for their fans in 2013."

We wish Eddie a continued and quick recovery!
