“Game of Thrones'” Sophie Turner Cast as Jean Grey in “X-Men: Apocalypse”

The next generation of mutants will soon be arriving on the big screen.

Director Bryan Singer revealed on Twitter Thursday that Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp and Tye Sheridan have been cast in "X-Men: Apocalypse." Singer confirmed that of the newly cast "brilliant young mutants," Turner will play Jean Grey, Shipp will play Storm and Sheridan will play Cyclops.

You might not recognize any of these stars' names at first glance, but there's a good chance you've seen them before.

Turner, 18, is best known for her role as Sansa Stark on "Game of Thrones." Her "Barely Lethal" co-star Hailee Steinfeld tweeted after the casting news broke, "my best friends a mutant." Turner responded with a series of colorful hearts, adding, "@HaileeSteinfeld I LOVE YOU SO MUCH..."

Shipp recently portrayed Aaliyah in the Lifetime TV movie "Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B." The 23-year-old actress has also had a recurring role on "Days of Our Lives."

As for Sheridan? The 18-year-old certainly won't be starstruck by the rest of "X-Men: Apocalypse's" A-list cast. He acted alongside Sean Penn, Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain in 2011's "The Tree of Life," and in 2012's "Mud," he counted Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon as co-stars.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is expected to hit theaters May 26, 2016.
