“The Maya Rudolph Show” Is Happening

The dream you didn't know you had of Maya Rudolph hosting her own variety show is coming true. "The Maya Rudolph" Show will premiere Monday, May 19 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.

The one-hour special is a throwback to the classic variety show format and is serving as a pilot for a possible ongoing version. Andy Samberg, Kristen Bell, Fred Armisen, Chris Parnell, Craig Robinson and Sean Hayes will be guests. Janelle Monae will be the show's musical guest with Raphael Saadiq serving as bandleader.

Rudolph, David Javerbaum, Erin David and Dave Becky will produce with "Saturday Night Live's" Lorne Michaels serving as executive producer.

Rudolph shot to fame on "Saturday Night Live" where she stayed for 11 years. Following her time on the sketch series, Rudolph co-starred opposite Kristen Wiig in the smash hit film "Bridesmaids" and was part of NBC's "Up All Night" with Christina Applegate and Will Arnett.

NBC and Rudolph began working on her variety show back in November 2013.
