Rapper DMX Freed From Jail in Child Support Case: Lawyer

Rapper DMX is free after serving more than two months in a New York jail for failing to pay child support.

The 44-year-old rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, walked out of the Erie County Holding Center in Buffalo Friday afternoon, his lawyer, Dominic Candino, said Saturday.

Candino added that his client was "ecstatic" after his release.

Simmons was freed after he filed a motion asking a judge to stay the sentence, which was granted.

Candino said there had been "some legal issues" in the case, but would not elaborate.

Simmons was arrested before a performance in New York City in June. Authorities said at the time he owed $400,000 in unpaid child support.
