"Doctor Who" fans have finally being given a glimpse into what the 50th anniversary special of the hit BBC sci-fi series will hold.

Aside from a teaser trailer that was shown exclusively for fans in attendance at the "Who" panel during Comic-Con 2013 and was never released online, no other details have been released concerning the special episode, titled "Day of the Doctor." What is known is that it features not one, but two actors portraying the titular time traveller.

The 75-minute special will air on Nov. 23 both in the U.K. and in the U.S.

Matt Smith, the eleventh actor to inhabit the role and the series current star, narrates the trailer.  "I've been running all my lives," Smith says as the camera pans across landscapes, eras, enemies and faces familiar to longtime fans. "Now is the time to face the choices I've made in the name of the Doctor--our future depends on one single moment of one impossible day."

The trailer features all the actors who have made the role their own, from William Hartnell in 1963 through Patrick Troughton (1966), Jon Pertwee (1970), Tom Baker (1974), Peter Davidson (1981), Colin Baker (1984), Sylvester McCoy (1987), Paul McGann (1996 telemovie), Christopher Eccleston (2005) and David Tennant (2005) before ending on a close up of Matt Smith, who took on the role in 2010.

The sneak peek also showcases the Doctor's well-known enemies the Daleks, the Master and the Cybermen, as well as beloved companions from the past such as Sarah Jane Smith (the late Elisabeth Sladen), his robotic dog K-9, and current Tardis inhabitant Clara (Jenna Coleman).

Exactly how the two Doctors materialize in the same dimension remains to be explained, and how Smith's journey in the role will end is also up for debate. In June Smith revealed he would exit the series and in August it was announced that Scottish actor Peter Capaldi will step into the Tardis (the Doctor's vehicle that travels through space and time) following Smith's exit at the end of the annual Christmas episode scheduled to air on Dec. 25 in the U.K.
