McEnroe Son's NYC Drug Case on Track for Dismissal

A son of tennis star John McEnroe and actress Tatum O'Neal will get a New York City drug-possession case dismissed if he stays out of trouble and gets treatment.

Court records show Kevin McEnroe's case was put on track Tuesday for dismissal if he avoids re-arrest. The arrangement isn't uncommon for low-level cases.

The Manhattan district attorney's office says the agreement requires McEnroe to complete treatment until Nov. 20. His lawyer didn't immediately return phone and email messages Wednesday.

The 28-year-old McEnroe was arrested in July. Authorities initially said he had what appeared to be cocaine and illegally possessed prescription medication.

Prosecutors say tests showed the seeming cocaine actually wasn't any controlled substance. It's not immediately clear what it was.

Prosecutors reduced a felony charge against McEnroe to a misdemeanor.
