Jay Mohr finally realized that some so-called jokes just aren't very funny.
Of course, it took a lot of Internet-shaming for him to get there.
"'@perezhilton @alyssa_milano She's stunning. I mistakenly thought the absurdity of what I was saying would have [been] taken as a joke. #fail," the "Suburgatory" star tweeted yesterday after being raked across the online coals for a radio interview he gave during which he made all sorts of cracks about Milano's body after seeing her at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards gala in Las Vegas on Dec. 6.
Mohr apparently included Perez in the mix because the entertainment blogger naturally flew to Milano's defense.
The interview itself largely flew under the radar until Milano heard about it and called Mohr out via Twitter in high-road fashion.
"@jaymohr37 So sorry you felt the need to publicly fat-shame me," the 40-year-old "Mistresses" star and "Project Runway All Stars" host tweeted on Christmas Day. "Be well and God Bless. Please send my love to your beautiful wife."
Mohr had reportedly said on the air about Milano, "She's very tiny, in height...It seems like she had a baby and said, 'I don't really give a s--t'...I read it on her gut." That, followed by: "Somebody sat in the director's chair and was not wearing Spanx and I was like, 'Jesus Christ.'"
His comments did seem at least delusional, if not exactly humorous, considering Milano looked super-hot at the NASCAR banquet in a form-fitting red dress. (And had he seen her in a bathing suit?)
Milano has not yet responded to Mohr's apology, but she did field dozens of supportive tweets over the holidays.
"You are gorgeous @Alyssa_Milano &ur baby is ridiculously cute. In other news @jaymohr37 looks like a foot," Olivia Munn tweeted on Tuesday. "@oliviamunn you're yummy, thank you," Milano replied.
Also on New Year's Eve, perhaps related to the ongoing hubbub, Milano tweeted a simple, "F--k it."
She then signed off for 2013 with, "Happy New Year. I wish you all the love you can stand in 2014."
