Cory Monteith's Mom Tweets About Son's Death

Cory Monteith's mother wants fans of her late son to know that their kind words have not gone unnoticed.

"I would like to thank all of Cory's supporters at this extremely emotional time. Your support has been overwhelming...thank you!" Ann McGregor tweeted yesterday, the first post on her page since January.

Also, in response to a number of fans who had tweeted their condolences, including one who wrote, "we can see why Cory was so special, he had a very special mom," McGregor replied, "Sooo special!"

She also took the opportunity to set the record straight about who she has--or, more specifically, who she has not--been talking to about her son's death.

"The person releasing articles relating to my feelings and thoughts on how to take care of Cory's ashes has never been in contact with me," McGregor also tweeted, adding, "I have never met or spoken to this person. He does not represent me or my wishes."

Monteith was reportedly cremated following his death on July 13 from a toxic mixture of heroin and alcohol. While it's unclear if this was the report that McGregor was referring to, a supposed cousin of the actor's told Life &Style last week that Cory's mother planned to "spread some of the ashes in the different places he loved."

Meanwhile, before Lea Michele also broke her personal silence via Twitter this week, her rep had said in a statement that she was "grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them. They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together."

"Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love &support. Cory will forever be in my heart," Michele tweeted on Monday.

She returned to work yesterday, tweeting, "First day of glee today..And at my first wardrobe fitting for Rachel Berry for Season Five! I've missed her so much."

The cast of Glee posted an emotional video on the show's YouTube channel today honoring the lost member of their TV family.
