Bieber Pleads No Contest to Vandalism in Egging Case

Pop singer threw eggs at neighbor's house, causing $20,000 in damages

Justin Bieber pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of vandalism for throwing eggs at a former neighbor’s Southern California home.

Bieber was sentenced to two years probation, five days of community labor and must pay $80,900 in restitution in addition to completing an anger management program.

He did not appear in court.

The charges stem from the January egging of the Calabasas home of his then-neighbor Jeffrey Schwartz. The incident was caught on amateur cell phone video by the neighbor’s daughter, and Bieber can be heard exchanging hostile taunts with the homeowner on the recording.

The incident allegedly caused $20,000 in damages, and Bieber could have faced felony charges that would have carried stiffer penalties.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies searched Bieber's home Jan. 14 for possible evidence and seized surveillance video from his property, but he was not arrested. The singer's pal Lil Za, whose real name is Xavier Smith, was arrested during the search on an unrelated drug charge.

Schwartz reportedly had several confrontations with the singer during the time they lived next to each other, including an argument in which Bieber allegedly spit on the neighbor. The neighbor filed assault charges after the spitting incident, but the DA declined to prosecute.

Bieber has since moved out of the exclusive gated Calabasas neighborhood.

The pop singer has had a number of run-ins with law enforcement across the country recently, including a DUI arrest in Miami.

In June, the DA's office declined to file attempted robbery charges after a 20-year-old woman alleged he tried to steal her iPhone while at a Sherman Oaks, California mini-golf amusement park.
