"American Idol" Winner Kris Allen Welcomes a Baby Boy With Wife Katy

    As if Kris Allen didn't have enough to brag about at his 10-year reunion.

    The winner of "American Idol's" eighth season welcomed a son Tuesday with wife Katy O'Connell, the first child for the high school sweethearts. They tied the knot in 2008.

    "Happy Day!!!! My little stud was born today. Oliver is here people!" Allen, 28, tweeted Monday. The proud papa also posted an Instagram pic of himself in hospital scrubs, writing, "My outfit for the day. The best outfit ill ever [wear] #bestdayofmylife."

    Oliver Neil Allen arrived weighing 7 pounds, 7 ounces, upon arrival and measuring 20 3/4 inches long, Allen's rep told Us Weekly, which first reported the baby news.

    Allen revealed that he and Katy were expecting a son just a couple weeks ago, saying his wife was already buying daddy-reminiscent clothes for the little guy, including a few fedoras.

    The "Vision of Love" singer broke his wrist in a car accident on New Year's Day and required multiple surgeries on his hand--but the close shave ultimately gave him a great opportunity to make a big announcement.

    "Thank you @ford for equipping me with a car that kept my whole family @katyallen @ZorroPup and the little one we have on the way safe," Allen tweeted at the time. "Yes I got in a really bad wreck tonight and yes I'm having a lil baby. #gonnabeadaddy."
