82-Year-Old Headbanger Steals the Show on ‘America's Got Talent'

Soon after John Hetlinger began singing, the crowd leapt to their feet

An 82-year-old headbanger brought the "America's Got Talent" audience to their feet last night.

While singing his rendition of Drowning Pool's "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor," John Hetlinger sported khaki pants, a white polo shirt and sneakers.

The Broomfield, Colo. native's vocals were met by the audience clapping and headbanging. All four AGT judges were visibly in shock as he sung the heavy metal classic.

"Oh my god," gasped AGT judge Mel B of the Spice Girls.

Simon Cowell asked the retired aerospace engineer and Navy pilot why he decided to come on AGT this year.

"This would be probably the high point of my life and my many careers," Hetlinger said.

Hetlinger first began impressing crowds as a karaoke singer shortly after his retirement 15 years ago. Watch one of his earlier renditions of "Bodies" here.
