“Heroes” Star on the Haiti Crisis: I “Can't Get in Touch With My Family”

Jimmy Jean-Louis is known for his "Heroes" role as The Haitian – but now, the Haiti-born actor is making a passionate real-life plea for help for his home country.

"As you must know, Haiti's been hit by a big catastrophe – a major earthquake. 7.0," he stated in a video posted to YouTube. "I've been trying to reach my family for the whole day. Can't get in touch with my mom, dad, cousins, uncles and friends."

The star then asked for the public's assistance in bringing relief to the nation.

"Haiti is a poor country – and we cannot cope with such a situation. Haiti needs help. We need the basics, water, cans, clothing. So however you can help would be really good for the country," he said.

Jimmy joins a number of stars, including Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and rock band Coldplay, who have raised their voices in support of Haiti.

People interested in the assistance efforts can make a donation via the Red Cross or Jimmy's own organization, the Hollywood Unites for Haiti Relief Fund.
