Tidbits: “Dancing” Pro Doesn't Want Abdul on Panel

Mark Ballas wants Paula Abdul to compete, not judge

“Dancing With the Stars” seems willing to open the stage door to Paula Abdul, but there could be a behind-the-scenes battle if the ex-“American Idol” judge accepts an offer from the show.

While ABC head honcho Stephen McPherson recently boasted, "We would love to have (Abdul) on 'Dancing,' as a contestant, a participant or a judge,” at least one ballroom professional doesn’t share that last sentiment.

“I think we're good with our judges,” Mark Ballas told E! News. In fact, there’s only one Abdul appearance Ballas would support.

“I think she should be on the show as a competitor,” he said. “She can't be a professional because she's not a ballroom or a Latin dancer. She'd be great as a competitor.”

So far no one seems to have suggested the obvious “Dancing” role for Abdul — a near seamless replacement for Tom Bergeron’s scatterbrained co-host Samantha Harris.

‘Real Housewife’ can’t stand Paltrow
“Real Housewives of New York” star Bethenny Frankel doesn’t save all her tough talk for reality TV cronies. In an interview with the New York Daily News, the outspoken chef let loose on her least favorite celebrity cook.

“I'd rather staple my eyelids shut than watch Gwyneth (Paltrow) cook,” Frankel admitted. “Gwyneth is afraid to (reveal) who she really is — she's so manhandled by publicists and managers. Her show would be way too boring to watch.”

Dish on the fly
Moments after 16-year-old Miley Cyrus completed her controversial “Teen Choice” pole-dance routine Sunday night, some Twitterverse observers referred to the “Hannah Montana” star as “the next Britney Spears.” While in this case, “Britney Spears” seemed to be keyboard-critic shorthand for “out of control,” Cyrus put her own spin on it. “For all the people calling me the ‘next Britney,’ THANK U,” she wrote. “I couldn't ask for a better compliment :)” … The September issue of Good Housekeeping magazine features an interview with Jada Pinkett Smith and gives the actress yet another opportunity to boast about how she and hubby Will Smith keep things hot and steamy. “My husband and I always make time for sex! Always! No matter how busy we are,” she said. “And if I told you the places! You would not even believe! It's crazy the risks that we take, but that's what keeps it so much fun.” Of course, anyone who read Pinkett Smith’s recent TMI-fest in Redbook knows the sort of places she means (“Your girlfriend's house at a party. The bathroom! A guest bedroom!”). … Soccer stud Cristiano Ronaldo is ready for a romantic round two with Paris Hilton, but according to British tabloid The People, Ronaldo’s just too shallow to keep the socialite’s interest. “I like guys who are manly, not the sort who look in the mirror more than I do,” Hilton allegedly told a friend. “(Cristiano) is far too into his looks and fashion. Men shouldn’t be like that.”
