A sweet story just got sweeter.
Ted Williams, the man whose radio voice propelled him from homelessness to Hollywood, is joining the ranks of Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and President Barack Obama. In other words, he's getting his own milkshake.
Millions of Milkshakes, a West Hollywood celebrity hotspot that is not for the frugal or feeble stomached, announced that Williams will be on hand on Thursday at 7 p.m. to celebrate his golden voice with the Golden Shake. Sadly the announcement did not come by way of Williams' voice.
What ingredients comprise the tonic of an up-and-coming radio personality? Why, Oreos, strawberries and bananas, of course.
This is a concoction that Williams' supporters can get behind. In January, Williams entered a sober house in Texas at Dr. Phil McGraw's recommendation, but after two weeks, decided to check out.
Williams was homeless when a journalist spotted him in Columbus, Ohio, holding a cardboard sign that boasted of his on-air potential. The journalist, Doral Chenoweth of the Columbus Dispatch, took a gamble and paid Williams $1 to prove himself. For his buck, he captured the story and voice that captured millions. The video went viral in no time and grabbed the attention of talking heads everywhere, all clamoring for a (sound)bite of Williams.
According to Millions of Milkshakes, 50 percent of the proceeds from the shake's sale for the next 30 days will be donated to Williams' A Second Chance Foundation.
