Tennis superstar Serena Williams was said to be recovering at home Wednesday, having sought treatment last week for a blood clot in her lungs that took a turn for the worse.
"I know I will be OK, but am praying and hoping this will all be behind me soon," Williams said in a statement to The Associated Press.
She described the pair of health scares as "extremely hard, scary, and disappointing," but said she hoped to be back on the tennis courts by early summer, the AP reported.
Williams, 29, had gamely attended Elton John's Academy Awards party Sunday after having earlier been treated at a Los Angeles hospital for a pulmonary embolism, also known as a blood clot in her lung.
But the treatment led to serious complications, her rep told People, and the day after John's AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party, she suffered a hematoma.
"Doctors are continuing to monitor her situation closely to avoid additional complications," Williams' rep told People.
