Piers Morgan & Larry King Face Off on “Piers Morgan Tonight”

Piers Morgan will be facing the man he replaced on CNN's 9 p.m. time slot, and things are already getting catty.

The British talk show host revealed over the weekend he will sit down with Larry King for an interview on "Piers Morgan Tonight" on Wednesday, only days after King said Morgan's show was over-hyped.

"He's certainly not bad," King said on BBC Radio 4 last Thursday. "He's certainly an acceptable host. He asks good questions, maybe he interrupts a little too much at times. I think he may babe been oversold," adding that the show promised its host was going to be more "dangerous."

"He's good, but not that dangerous," the veteran talk show host said. "I think they might have been better off starting quietly and that's not Piers' fault, or maybe it is, I'm not inside anymore...I'd not give up on it."

King hung up his suspenders and said good-bye to his decades-long reign on the news channel last December. "Piers Morgan Tonight" replaced "Larry King Live" and debuted with an Oprah interview that attracted more than 2 million viewers. However, ratings dropped by almost 50% by his fourth episode, according to The Huffington Post.

Morgan, a former tabloid editor and "America's Got Talent" judge who had a successful talk show in the U.K., brought out his snarky side on Twitter.

"Got a feeling we may need to discuss Larry's claim that I'm 'oversold' and 'not dangerous,'" Morgan wrote, adding "May have to twang those suspenders to prove how dangerous I really am."

But the Morgan took the catfight a notch down in a formal statement, hinting at his quibble with King but praising his 9 pm predecessor.

"I can't think of many people I'd rather interview than Larry King, and I'm sure people will be fascinated by the dynamic between us, for obvious reasons," Morgan said in the statement, published on CNN.com.

But don't be surprised if the upcoming face-off between the two talk show giants turns into a war of the egos.

"Hope Larry remembers he has to sit on the right now," Morgan tweeted.
