It’s good to have friends in strange places.
Dog the Bounty Hunter, also known as Duane Chapman, posted Nicolas Cage’s bail after the actor was arrested early Saturday morning in the Big Easy on domestic violence charges.
The 58-year-old reality star posted Cage’s $11,000 bond, saying he was a “truly dedicated fan” of Cage in a statement. He declined to go into more detail about the arrest, People reported, citing Cage’s privacy.
A cab driver allegedly saw Cage grab his wife during an argument, the Associated Press reported.
The New Orleans Police Department released a statement about the incident, which took place in the city's famous French Quarter.
"Cage and his wife were standing in front of a residence that he insisted was the property the couple was renting. She disagreed, and Cage grabbed her by the upper arm and pulled her to what he believed was the correct address. There were no visible signs of injury on his wife's arm," the statement read.
The cabbie called the police, who reportedly tried to break up the fight and urged Cage, and his wife of six years, Alice Kim, to go home. Cage, 47, was arrested when he drunkenly taunted the police several times, daring them to do just that.
The actor was released on bail Saturday afternoon and is scheduled to appear in court at the end of May. According to the New York Daily News, his wife denies that he assaulted her and is not pressing charges.
